Trend Alert: Straw Bags

Straw bags are hot at the moment. And it’s really no surprise why that is. The mere sight of straw bags is a wonderful reminder of glorious spring and tells us that fun times under the sun are soon going to arrive. Plus, straw bags are not only cute and fun, but they’re also practical and functional with their roomy interior. They’re perfect for that walk in the park, weekend outings and even as everyday bags.

From haute designer straw bags to affordable ones, straw bags are definitely “in”. We’ve spotted several celebs going the straw bag route. There’s Courtney Cox, who carried a straw tote while on Hawaii a few weeks back (left photo), while Glee‘s Jayma May’s had her Kate Spade Point Breeze straw tote with her during the 8th Annual John Varvatos Stuart House Benefit in West Hollywood, CA on March 13 (right photo).

Get spring-ready with a straw bag of your own. You can go for the fashion-forward variety with these two from Shopbop:

By Malene Birger Zetto Straw Tote with Studs, $340.00

Marc by Marc Jacobs Preppy Straw Rosa Tote, $178.00

Or go the classically elegant route with these fab numbers from Endless:

Malin Akerman’s Dolce & Gabbana Satchel Lassie Sicily

I assume you’re familiar with Malin Akerman–if not by name, then probably by face. Malin’s sweet face had graced quite a number of famous Hollywood Films, including 27 Dresses and last year’s Couples Retreat. Also, she’s the girl who played Ryan Reynold’s ex-girlfriend in The Proposal. Do you remember her now? If not still, then this image of her might just remind you:

Much as I love giving you more tidbits about Malin Akerman, we’re really not here for that. We’d rather be talking now about woven purses–Malin Akerman’s Dolce & Gabbana Satchel Lassie Sicily purse, in particular: Take a good look:

Here’s the store photo:

Notice something? Yes, it’s crochet! And it’s actually not the first time that this satchel’s been out and about in public. Earlier this year, several stars have totted the Dolce & Gabbana Satchel Lassie Sicily. Take a look:

Victoria Beckham looks posh with it, while Ashley Greene’s version added a chic element to her cool downtown look. As for Madonna, the bag definitely gave her appearance a glamorous boost.

So do you like the Dolce & Gabbana Satchel Lassie Sicily? It’s quite easy to warm up to this trendy crochet purse. It has a long strap and a handle that makes it versatile to be carried on the shoulder or on the crook of your arm. Plus, it’s crochet element makes it quite lovable. Well, it won’t be last spring’s must-have bag for nothing. But, I can’t say the same thing with it’s price. It’s currently not available anywhere, but it was last retailed for $1,695.00. Farfetch.com says it’s out of stock, so even if you’re well able to buy it, you’d have to wait for stocks to arrive. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t.

If you’d rather have your own crochet purses now and at a fraction of the  Dolce & Gabbana Satchel Lassie Sicily’s price, then take a look at these adorable woven purses from Endless.com:

Straw Studios Zl86013 Hobo, $31.35

Dan W Woven Snake-Print Satchel, $225.00

ECHO Woven Shopper, $26.40-$48.00

High Fashion Two-Tone Woven Satchel, $151.25

Sarah Jessica Parker: School Run Stylish

Even for just an early morning school run, actress Sarah Jessica Parker still keeps it fresh and stylish.

The Sex and the City star was spotted walking her son to school early last May in a casual but chic outfit that consisted of folded up jeans, a scarf around her neck, a classic black pullover, and some comfy chucks.

Her finishing touches included some uber cool sunglasses and a piece of elegant looking woven straw tote trimmed with black leather.

I have yet to ID the bag; I have a strong feeling it’s a Marc Jacobs but I could be wrong. I will keep you posted on it.

Sarah Jessica Parker and her mysterious woven bag

It is quite a lovely piece. Nothing show stopping really, but it looks very classy and clean; and I like classy and clean.

If you want it, try getting the same look with these more affordable pieces; because I’m sure the one on SJP will cost you more than just a couple of hundreds:
