Maria Sharapova Matches Ethereal Dress with Edgy Clutch

Maria Sharapova’s style at the 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar Party last week was totally spot on. The tennis champ showcased her fit body in a white short dress that looked ethereal because of its delicate texture, paired with platform pumps in the same color. Maria accessorized with a glittery headband and a crystal-covered box clutch.

Get a closer look at her clutch here:

The faceted crystals attached to the suede body of the clutch gives the purse a luxurious look. Making it even more luxurious is the stunning  skull clasp that’s become an iconic Alexander McQueen accent, and the clutch’s golden frame. This clutch does not come cheap, you can get it from Neiman Marcus for $ 2, 645.

Here’s the woven version of the clutch that’s equally beautiful:

The box clutch has woven detailing in the Union Jack pattern. It comes in a misty rose color giving the edgy purse a soft touch. Like Maria’s clutch, this one has the skull clasp with “pearl” eyes and crystal detailing on the top. Get the box clutch for $ 1995 from Bergdorf Goodman.

With these two clutches from Alexander McQueen, your evening look will never be the same again.

I have actually two good news for those who’ve been coveting the Diane von Furstenberg Stephanie Medium Hobo. The first good news is that it’s now available at Shopbop.com! LeAnn Rimes favorite woven bag can now be snagged in four available versions—Gold Metallic, Silver Metallic, Metallic Twilight, and Black Metallic.

The Diane von Furstenberg Stephanie Medium Hobo is still celebrities’ favorite woven purse at the moment. Take a look at how LeAnn Rimes was still toting it while in St. Barts over the Holidays:

Here’s the Gold Metallic version for a closer look:

So what’s your favorite version among the four that I’ve mentioned? Mine would have to be the Silver Metallic. I like the Gold Metalic version for its warm hue, but I love the Silver Metallic variation because I find it more gorgeous and fitting for winter. The light the steely silver brings would look great against dark winter wool coats, and would give the dreary atmosphere a more cheery feel.

But whatever version you choose, I have to say that this bag is amazing overall! The metallic leather is a work of art, and it’s fantastic how the metallic peeks through when you move the bag. It’s great design and functionality rolled into one. The Diane von Furstenberg Stephanie Medium Hobo is truly a definite must-have, so grab it while it’s still available, because I’m sure it’ll sell out soon.

Don’t think I have forgotten to tell you the second good news, because I’m on to that next. Here it is: for those who love the glamorous design and fantastic functionality of the Diane von Furstenberg Stephanie Medium Hobo, yet find its price too hard on the wallet, here’s a close look-alike for you—the High Fashion 5664 Woven Hobo:

High Fashion 5664 Woven Hobo, $108.30 (Endless.com)

It’s a close call, also great-looking, and—best of all—it comes at a fraction of the Diane von Furstenberg Stephanie Medium Hobo.

So grab what suits you. Either way, you’ll look fabulous and chic.

Reese Witherspoon Totes Another Bottega

Reese Witherspoon is a woven purse fanatic, that much we can deduce after having covered her and her fantastic woven purses more than a couple of times here at WovenPurses.com (click here to read articles on Reese and her woven purses).

You could say it’s a long-time love affair that will probably see no end. Her latest acquirement is a classic large woven metallic tote from none other than the iconic Bottega Veneta. She was spotted sporting the piece last week; took it from Toys R Us to Neil George Salon while out and about in Beverly Hills.

Now we all know that Bottega bags are expensive. Prices start at US$1500 and it goes up from there depending on the style. This Bottega Veneta Medium Cylinder Tote for instance, costs US$1504 at BlueFly, that’s even after the 20% BlueFly discount (was US$1880).

If you want something similar that will not make you go hungry for a month, you can try these alternatives:

Helen Kaminski Tyra in Platinum, US$675 (Ebags.com)

This Helen Kaminski Tyra Tote in Platinum is a dead ringer for Reese’s Bottega Veneta. It may still be expensive, but at least it is a third of the price.

Sondra Roberts Cameron Tote, US$276 at BlueFly (was US$485)

Though not in metallic gray color, this tote from Sondra Roberts is a close look alike to Reese’s Bottega. Plus, it is priced much lower too!
