Aside from being big fans of woven textures (or just about anything woven, in fact), we specifically love woven handbags for the plain and simple reason that they will never go out of style. The woven style on handbags will always be in fashion. And here are 5 great reasons why:

1. Weaving is a classic

We wrote in our About page that the very first woven bag apeared sometime in the late 17th Century. But as you may know, weaving has been used in history even way before that (think as far as 2.6 million years ago). Weaving has undergone the most rigorous, most thorough and most reliable test of endurance there is: time. If the art of weaving isn’t considered a classic, then we don’t know what is.

2. Woven handbags are versatile

Because of the different types of weaves and different kinds of materials that can be used for a woven handbag, it is one of the most versatile accessories there is.

Use twill plaiting and raffia for a tote and you’ve got yourself a woven handbag ready for a day at the beach. Use the popular basket weave on commonplace leather material and you’ll end up with a gorgeous for-everyday tote. Use an intricate weave pattern on a shiny satin fabric and you’ll have a lovely little clutch ready for a night on the town.

With so many combinations, so many techniques and so many ways, you can see why designers love to use weaving on handbags. Even Bottega Venetta has decided to use a woven pattern as their signature instead of brandishing their logo on every single on of their products.

We’re waxing poetic at this point so we should say that woven handbags get better with age if they’re well taken care of. We found a leather and nylon waist bag in Bluefly and it’s by no less than Bottega Veneta, but for $840 we’re unsure about this bag:

This waist pack will probably last forever which means we can make use of it every time the fanny pack goes back in style, but we still don’t think we’re willing to fork over that much money on such a bag.

The Bottega Veneta Corniola Fringed Woven tote is a woven purse that has fringe detailing. We think the bag is a funkier version of Charlize Theron’s Bottega Veneta tote bag.

The bag is made of Bottega’s signature woven supple leather , but it has fringes all over the body. Even the handles are woven with gun-metal hardware.

The bag is currently on pre-order status and will be shipped in the next few months. It sells for $4, 850.

You can’t really see the whole bag in the photo above, but Charlize’ tote is the Bottega Veneta Matlin Fringe tote. It is available in Neiman Marcus.

This bag has a pretty serious price tag: $2,650. We’re glad the bag is roomy. Plus, with the kind of leather Bottega Veneta uses in its bags, we’re sure the Matlin fringe tote is worth every penny.

Emma Stone Carried a Bottega Veneta Purse to the MTV Movie Awards

Yesterday, Emma Stone looked sensational in her Bottega Veneta dress at the MTV movie awards. To complete the look, Emma carried a Bottega Veneta purse.

We’re unable to find the Bottega Veneta clutch in the same color as Emma’s but we did find the black version.

Brooklyn, along with Just Go With It co-star Adam Sandler, was spotted signing autographs after promoting the said movie on the MTV show The Seven. If you’re a big fan of woven purses as much as I do, you might have already guessed by now the make of Brooklyn Decker’s woven tote.
