Singer Christina Aguilera was spotted shopping for a Ferrari with her hubby and son last week (July 31).

I’m sure most people took note of what they were shopping for. A Ferrari is hard to ignore, after all. But I have to say that what got my attention was not the Ferrari; it was Christina’s mysterious bag.

It’s hard to tell if it’s a woven chain link leather bag or crochet bag. I’m leaning towards the latter though, what do you think?

Last June 3, I covered Sarah Jessica Parker and her chic and classy woven bag which I initially thought was a Marc Jacobs. However, my guess was quite wrong and I definitely stand corrected. SJP’s woven purse is actually the Dolce & Gabbana Miss Sicily Woven Satchel.

The Black version (above) made out of crochet material is  the more popular variant  as seen on stars like Victoria Beckham, Dita Von Teese,  and Kylie Minogue.

For some reason, though the Black Crochet looks classic and elegant, I still prefer the woven and natural colored piece on SJP.

Where to buy this one is quite hard to answer at the moment. Nordstrom only sells the classic  Red Leather (US$1,895) and Metallic (US$1,795; for pre-order from the Fall 2010 Collection) Tote versions while Farfetch.com only has  the smaller Macrame Flap Bag  (US$1,041) variant. I have yet to see an online retailer selling the exact same bag on SJP.

(Though not exactly woven, allow us to consider the crochet bag as an ‘honorary member’ of the woven category for the simple reason that it offers a similar appeal as native woven bags do, especially when the material used is of organic origin. The similarities also extend to the fact that both are  meticulously hand-crafted.)

Jessica Alba sports a lot of handbags, but one that has caught our attention is this crochet bag which she toted around for a while.

Apart from the headbands, the one other constant companion Jessica has in these photos is this bag. We found out that this is a Ferragamo Gancio Crochet Bag. The bag looks exquisite, and it is clear to see she loves using it to complete her look

Speaking of the look, I’m guessing she’s either channeling ‘gypsy’ or ‘summer in the country’. Either way, she looks good with her colorful headbands and hoop earrings.

One of the most well celebrated crochet bags is the Gerard Darel Syracuse “24 Hour” Hand Knitted Bag. A lot of celebrities have been seen toting this bag and I am not surprised as to why.

The detailing on the bag is quite unique and possibly laborious to do. I can only imagine the artisan hand-crafting this bag, it must have taken her a lot of time and a definite love of the art to come up with such a piece. To give you an idea of who’s wearing the bag, see below:
